       A. Our philosophy is to treat each and every camper and staff member as a member  of our own family. Safety and security considerations always come first. Many meals during  each trip are served buffet-style, so you will be able to choose your own food. Anyone with  a basic desire for adventure will feel more than comfortable on any of our trips.  However, some of our hikes tend to be more physically challenging than others.  That does not mean you need to be a super athlete to enjoy the hikes.... and do  not worry, you won’t be carrying all of your stuff on the hikes!  Please call us in  advance if there any physical or health related concerns that may need to be  addressed.  Back to question

21) Q. How much time is spent on the road?

       A. Our travel times vary. We are usually not on the bus for more than two  consecutive hours without stopping. All of the campgrounds that we camp at, are  centrally located to our activities which eliminate unnecessary travel once we  have arrived at a destination.

                                                                                                                                                            Back to question

Back to question

24) Q. Is learning part of the Meromim experience?

       A. Yes. Structured learning groups in our spacious air-conditioned classrooms,  headed by professional dedicated Rebbeim, will ensure that your child will  continue to excel in his learning during the summer months.  Back to question

25) Q. While in Denver what are the accommodations like?

       A. We are based out of the campus of Yeshiva Toras Chaim located at the foot of  the Rocky Mountains in Denver, Colorado, when we are not on over-night trips we stay at the fully

air-conditioned  facilities of Yeshiva Toras Chaim as well as every Shabbos.  Back to question

26) Q. What are the accommodations like on over-night trips?

       A. Meromim camps in magnificent National Parks and beautiful private  campgrounds. All the campgrounds that we camp at are in choice locations and  have modern facilities (bathrooms and hot showers) and a host of recreational  activities. We camp under a star-filled sky by a stream, in a valley, a forest, or on  the shore of a sparkling lake.  Back to question

27) Q. Am I limited to one piece of luggage that I have to pack and unpack everyday like a traditional             travel camp?

       A. You may bring as many pieces of luggage as allowed by the airline. In addition to  being a home away from home, one of the many benefits of being based out of  the Yeshiva is, that there is no need to bring everything with you when you travel,  whatever you don’t need can be left in your dorm room. The dorm is also an ideal  place to do your laundry as there are several washers and dryers located in the  dorm. This is in addition to the camp laundry which is done twice each session.  Back to question

28) Q. Do I have to bring my own tent?

       A. No. Also we never depend on campgrounds to provide us with their equipment  which is used by the general public. Everything we need travels along with us, so  we can guarantee cleanliness.  Back to question

29) Q. Do I need to have any boy scout skills?

       A.  No. What ever you need to know will be taught to you by your staff member.  Back to question

30) Q. What is the weather like?

       A. Colorado weather during the summer is sunny with low humidity, though an occasional rain shower does pass through, they usually don’t last long. As the saying goes “if you don’t like the weather wait 10 minutes.” At 5000+ feet above sea level, the air tends to be thinner and drier. In addition, Denver’s sunshine tends to be more intense requiring you to use extra caution while outdoors. So that you stay properly hydrated it is important to drink plenty of fluids. To prevent sunburns it is important to remember to apply liberal amounts of sunscreen (minimum 30 SPF) and lip balm.  Even on days that are not sunny.  Back to question

31) Q. What do you do for medical care?

       A. Our priority will always be the health and well-being of your child. For routine non- emergency medical care a local physician or health care provider, recommended  by the yeshiva, will treat your child.  Back to question

32) Q. What if I am taking medication?

       A. Meromim does everything possible within the context of a travel camp to  accommodate campers with various medical conditions that may require  medications and treatments. No nurse or doctor travels with Meromim but we do  utilize local doctors whenever necessary. Please give us a call to discuss your  circumstances and we will give you an honest opinion so that you can decide  what is best for you. Of course all inquiries and information shared are always  kept strictly confidential. Back to question

33)  Q. What is Meromim’s policy regarding smoking, e-cigs, JUUL, vaping and alcoholic beverages?

       A. B”H we at Meromim are fortunate that so far we never have had this problem.  However it is important for you to understand our policy as we take this matter very  seriously.

Possession of any alcoholic beverage, cigarettes, cigars, hookah e-cigs, Juul, vaping or tobacco  products by any camper or staff member, regardless of age will be cause for  immediate dismissal from camp - NO EXCEPTIONS! There won’t be any second  chance or warning. It is important that you understand our policy clearly and  precisely so that there are no misunderstandings in the event it has to be  enforced. Back to question

       A.  Although cell phones are not permitted you will be able to use staff phones and the camp cell phone. You may also get a calling card and use payphones (cell phone coverage is often spotty) during free time and in the evenings. If you need to reach a camper you may call the 24 hour emergency hotline.  Back to question
